The easiest way to get started is to leave it all intact except for the lcd frame, just remove that and flip the lcd around to the back of the laptop.  Then you can mount the whole thing on the back of your frame!

About your donor laptop,  It kind of sounds like the backlight inverter is going bad.  To test this do the following:

After it turns on and goes black,  shine a bright flashlight on the screen.  If you can see anything other than blackness it is still a good lcd but a bad backlight or inverter.</description>

Would you happen to have a step by step of how i can make my old thinkpad 701c into one?

I&#039;m a tinkerer and can solder a bit but not an electrical engineer.  I also have an hp laptop that doesn&#039;t work but the lcd seems to.  (it shuts off immediately upon trying to boot so i can see stuff on the screen for a few seconds.)

I can&#039;t seem to find info.

in any case, thanks in advance for any direction you can provide me.</description>
