Maybe it could be flush (or near to) normally but then could be tilted downward for movies. Personally I used linux because the laptop I converted was old and had only 256mb ram and i didn't want to use it up with an antivirus program or firewall. I used a cf card as a poormans silent ssd, so swap space wasn't a choice. In saying this, windows could be a good choice as there are many more programs out there for displaying photos and pulling them from other sources. also if you're wanting your kids and wife to use it too, are they familiar with linux if not then maybe windows...
